Hello and welcome to our blog.

Let me tell you a little about Up the Wall Vertical Gardens. We are based in the Melbourne’s South East in Carnegie.

My name is Amir and I created Up The Wall Vertical Gardens. I have been a landscaper for over 15 years and have been involved in all facets of landscape construction. I originally got into the landscaping business after having built our family home and engaging someone to create a paved area in our back yard. This gentleman came to me highly recommended so I decided to use his services. Hmmmm.... I learned quite quickly that there are “Tradesmen” and then there are “Tradesmen”!

Our paving was completed and as I watched the process involved in paving, I realised that you did not have to be a rocket scientist to be a paver - but it does help if you can prepare the area properly and take care with your workmanship - unfortunately this gentleman did not. After a fairly short period of time, I noticed that the work performed was beginning to fall apart..... Very disappointing indeed!

The image below shows an example of what happened to me...... Created by a “Professional”..... Don’t let this happen to you! Make sure you engage someone that is competent, reliable and honest.

That was my motivation to get into landscaping - but to do it properly!

I come from a family of Quality and Luxury home builders and have been spoilt by the idea that all tradesmen take care and do the best possible job that they can - not true! I was always brought up to do things by this motto..... “If you are going to do something, do it right or don’t even bother!” That is how I work!

So with my background in and around the luxury home market, I always create landscapes that are not only functional, but are built to last. Did you know that it does not really take much more effort to do things properly the first time? And that little bit if extra care can mean the difference between a “temporary” project and one that lasts!

Don’t get me wrong here, I am not attacking all tradesmen as there are so many that do the right thing and take pride in their work, but you do need to be careful when choosing someone to work on your project..... Don’t always go for the cheapest quote ad remember that the most expensive quote does not always mean that they are the best either! You need to make sure you compare “Apples with Apples” and have a good chat with your tradesman, get a feel for them as a person, get a feel for their understanding of the job and make sure they understand their limitations! I never bite off more than I can chew and definitely will not take on a project that I don’t think I can handle.....
